Iran to export agricultural products to Russia
TEHRAN, May 16 (MNA) – Deputy agriculture minister said Iran’s agricultural and fishery products will be deployed to Russia via Tehran-Astrakhan direct flights. Iranian Deputy Minister of Agriculture Hassan Salehi announced the launch of direct flights between Tehran and Astrakhan for the sake of exporting Iranian goods including agricultural and fishery ones asserting “the first flight of the kind will take place in coming days.” The official emphasized provision of infrastructures for shipment of these products to Russia adding “air and sea transportation of agricultural and fisheries goods as well as customs facilities are among the required infrastructures.” “The two countries’ customs will soon seal an agreement for establishment of green channel system given that the draft of the accord has been prepared,” added Salehi. Touching upon joint fishery investment between Iran and Russia, he said “no joint venture has been conducted so far though Iranian traders have held talks with Russian companies for bilateral collaboration over aquaculture exports as well as establishment of export terminals.” Head of Iran Fisheries Organization went on to note “in recent weeks at Iran-Russia common Fisheries Commission, fruitful agreements have been reached for export of fishery products and for Russian firm’s investment in Anzali and Qeshm free trade zones. “The reached agreements pertain to myriad of areas including tiny fish industry, sardine fish, lantern fish, exports of and investment in shrimp industry in addition to research collaboration with universities and research centers located in Astrakhan. The official further maintained that Russia holds a Fishing Committee representative in Iran who is scheduled to make a visit to Qeshm Island and Anzali Port city at the earliest opportunity; “in the last Iranian calendar year (ended March 20), approximately 1000 tons of shrimp, salmon and canned fish were exported to Russia while shrimp export price has been 3 dollars per kilogram on average.”
