Leaders from both countries discuss potential trade of poultry, fish and beef products
Negotiators from Iran and Russia discussed potential poultry trade opportunities during the meeting of the first Russian-Iranian Group for Veterinary and Phytosanitary Cooperation. As a result of the talks, Russian officials expect Iran to approve three Russian poultry establishments to ship poultry products to Iran.
According to a report on the website of Rosselkhoznadzor, the Russian Federal Service for Veterinary and Phytosanitary Surveillance, the Veterinary Organization of Iran (VOI) provided Rosselkhoznadzor with veterinary and phytosanitary requirements for frozen poultry meat intended for export from Russia to Iran.
The two countries had met in January, with Rosselkhoznadzor reporting that Iran had given Russia clearance to export poultry and beef products.
The Russian poultry sector has recently made strides in export markets, as Cherkizovo, the country’s second largest broiler producer, earlier in April announced that it has received permission to export its poultry products to Egypt.
