Germany calls for cooperation with Iran in agriculture, food industry
A senior German official at the Bavarian State Ministry of Food, Agriculture and Forestry stressed the need for efforts to promote cooperation with Iran in various areas of agriculture and food industry.
Speaking at a meeting with visiting Head of Tehran Chamber of Commerce, Industries, Mines and Agriculture (TCCIMA) Masoud Khansari, Hubert Bittlmayer pointed to his planned trip to Iran in the near future, and said he will pay the visit to boost cooperation with the Islamic Republic, Tasnim News Agency reported. Irrigation technology, food processing, processing of medicinal plants and industrial machinery can be areas of cooperation between the Bavarian State and Iran, Bittlmayer added. Khansari voiced Iran’s willingness to cooperate with the German side, saying that with the capacities existing in Iran and Germany’s modern technology, Iran can be an unrivaled power in the Middle East’s market. The remarks come against the backdrop of a new wave of interest in ties with Iran after Tehran and the P5+1 (Russia, China, the US, Britain, France and Germany) on July 14, 2015 reached an agreement on Tehran's nuclear program and started implementing it on January 16. The comprehensive nuclear deal, known as Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA), terminated all nuclear-related sanctions imposed on Iran. Experts believe that Iran's economic growth would rise remarkably after the final nuclear deal takes effect.
